Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®)
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international nonprofit founded in 1993 to promote environmentally responsible, socially beneficial and economically viable management of the world’s forests. FSC does this by setting a worldwide standard of recognized and respected principles of forest stewardship.
Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI®)
The Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to sustainable forestry that sets standards on responsibly managed forests. Forests that meet this SFI standard are managed by a comprehensive program that integrates reforestation with the conservation of air and water quality, soil, and biological diversity. SFI marks are registered marks owned by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative, Inc.
Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC)
PEFC is an independent, nonprofit, nongovernmental organization, founded in 1999, which promotes sustainably managed forests through independent third-party certification. The PEFC provides assurance that wood for certified timber-based products comes from forests that are ecologically, socially and economically sustainable.
SFI Fiber Sourcing Standard (SFI®)
The SFI Fiber Sourcing Standard is a rigorous program that ensures responsible wood fiber procurement from both certified and non-certified lands. It promotes sustainable forestry by requiring practices that protect water quality, uphold biodiversity, encourage responsible harvesting, and support continual improvement across the supply chain.
